i was wondering if anyone else was wanting to know how to do those. they look sweet and they also don't look that hard to do.

Hover flips are similiar to Mctwist except more front flip late 180ish, or a different axis of mctwist.

I know i have seen some people do it like that and i have seen other do more of a side flip.

I like the side flip looking one.

now what exactly are we talking about here....wtf is a hover flip? are you talking about a hot flip..cause thats sort of like the side flip your talking about.

acually a hotflip in the vert would be called a flatspin, at least i think i would be becuase ppl that do the double flatspin as just doing 2 hotflips with a 180 but i could be wrong. A hover flip is like a half frontflip, so your looking at the coping with your feet pointed into the middle of the ramp, then it looks like you do a half flatspin to get your feet onto the ramp, but again i could be wrong but thats how it looks to me.

actually i think hot flips and flatspins have different rotations. flatspins are centered by the rotation around your bellybutton spinning horizontal. and hot flips are done by same rotation point but its more of a clockwise spin. i do hot flips on the trap all the time. but i could be wrong too.

I found this, maybe it will help clear everything up...

Flatspin:
Pump hard up the ramp, and give your transition a slight curve, as if you were going for a grind (the way you want to spin). As you start to air, you will feel as if you are lying on your side. At this point, you want to bring your legs round hard, so that you start spinning. This will get you rotating around your belly button (if you do it right), and all you have to do is hold the position, until you have gone full circle, at which point, you will be facing away from the vert. Here, you want to give your torso a little twist, until you can see the transition. Just brace yourself for the landing, or the bail, depending on how you end up.

Hotflip:
A hotflip is a sideways-flip wich quite easy to learn and to do, and it
looks really great when done good.I would suggest to do this trick forward instead of fakie (wich is however also possible). You could practise on a jumpramp or in a foampit to get the hang of it. Make a lot of speed as approach. Prepare yourself as if you are going to jump a normal air. The side you are going to roll over is preferably the side you spin a (i.e) 360 the best. I spin best counter-clockwise so in my case it would be done like this: Drive up the ramp to the right, then tilt you body to the left. As soon as you tilt over, wrap yourself in kinda ball. Pray that you've got enough speed and height and watch the world tilt over as if being in a
laundrymachine. As soon as you've passed the upsidedown sequence you should quickly unwrap yourself and prepare for landing. It might take a few times to land right without falling, but after landing on your feet once, you'll get the feeling very fast and this will be your most good looking trick.

I can only land hotflips onto flat bank transitions, but its really similar to backflip, except youre looking to a side instead of directly back... flatspins are not really flips, but with hotflips, you go completely upside down. They are easy I suppose, provided you push away from the ramp enough to not slam into it, and not so much that you land flat (ouch)

Trueskater. Have you seen Eito do a Mctwist? That's a hover flip, my flip has been called a hover flip but I just call it a Misty flip because it's called on park.

KYSkater

Paul
10-18-2004, 06:55 PM
no, i was just saying im like that guys who posted that he can only do hotflips to flat banks, im like that but but with a backflip 180 not a hotflip. sry for confusing you

KYSkater

Paul

KYSkater

wasn't he on a second ago. i thought i saw the adminastrator on. but i guess all of our names are kinda confusing compared to other sports. i mean, if you do a trick its called one thing, but if you do it backwards, its called something completly different. yea, but thats why we need more pros on here to clear up these little matters.

i just wanted to put something straight the closest thing that looks like a hot flip on vert is a brainless.

Now dont get me wrong a flatspin is a hotflip pretty much but completly flat.

on the other hand a brainless is a vertical rotation. i think that a brainless look closer to a hot flip on vert than a flatspin.
