I can drop-in on a 3', 4', 5', and 6' pipes(probably 8' too, never tried). But I want to drop-in on a half pipe. When I skate up and jump into it I usually go up about to the 12', and that's no problem. I can pump just fine, and even handplant a wall or 2. But then I'll go to the top of the ramp and its a whole nother story up there. Could anyone give me any tips on how to drop-in big ramps, or how to face my fears a little better. Thanks.
really it's just getting over your fear of being so high and just drop in like any other ramp thats all there really is to it. When i come down i help you out, and drop[ping in, airing, and spins.

i think i'm scared of the combination, hight and vert. it doesn't make any sense how to drop straight down on a vert ramp. but thanks man, it'll definitly be appreciated. i learned how to handplants and fakie 360's by just running up and jumping into the pipe. but i guess the time has come to learn to drop in.

always willing to help a fellow skater
why can't everyone have that attitude? Most people down here don't really have that problem but some places are just so harsh. People down here are very friendly(most of them), you'll love it down here.
sweet/ i've definantly delt with ym share of assholes around here. no-one wanted to help me, i had to prove that i was good enough to skate with some of the better guys around here. It's been long and hard but i know where ppl are comming from when they need help with things becuase i've been there so i want to help out as much as i can with anyone that wants help.

Dropping in is all about fear. If you can drop in a six or an 8 it's the same. Just remember to lean forward so you don't slide out back. Also keep your knees bent. I good rule is to keep your shoulders and feet in the same place if your shoulders are behind your feet you are going to slip out backwards if your shoulders are in front of your feet you are going to slam forwards.

After you get use to dropping it, it will become real easy.

tell you what when i first got up on a vert for the first time i was hella scared.
Its kind of a mind thing you go to get to the edge stand on the coping then say well since im up here i might as well just try then go for it.
Sure i slipped out my first time dropping in on vert. But the next time you wont be as scared.
Let me put it this way once you go for it and droppin. everything else will seem alot smaller a 5ft will seem like a 3ft to you and a 8 ft like a 5.
all it is is just getting up there and filling the vibe.
All it is, is you and the ramp.
one on one with destiny.
all you just have to do is say to your self that what the worst that can happen fall on my ass and slip out.
thats the worst that will happen.
and when you fall or slip out it wont even hurt that much.
Well peace and keep on rollin.

most of the time when i go to drop in on the big pipe theres never anyone there to push me to do it so i punk out. so maybe when Paul comes this way he'll give me some tips and push me to do it. cause i was really thinking about it last time but just didn't. but again thanks for all the help.
trust me when i skate i ALWAYS push the ppl around me to push themselves and the ppl around me push me to better myself also. At buffalo there was someone in the vert trying fakie 720's but couldn't get them and wasn't going to throw it in the competition but i kept pushing him to keep trying and throw it. even though he coul've beet me with that trick i still kept pushing him to progress himself.

theres always a bunch of little kids in the ramp. but thats usually the least skated place in the park, so i'd like to skate it more.
im glad to hear it's not skated much becuase pictures i've seen it looks like a bunch of little kids are using it like a mini. i though when i get there im going to end up spending 10-15 minuets to get the ramp clear

actually they do just pump back and forth all day. but once you go to the top and they see you they clear out pretty quick cause they wanna see what ya gonna do.
cool, then we'll definantly give them a show. on this trip i want ti learn flat 5's and the 720. i have the flat 3 but i want the flat 5, and maybe a backflip 180 but im not sure on that one

hey, do you think it would be a problem if i followed you all to Florence?
i don't see why that would be a problem at all. you'll love that park becuase if you want to get over a scared of dropping into a vert ramp they have a 13' one. heres the link to the park.

nm..its 12' with a 13' extension. hey, you think you could hit that 24' full pipe? i don't think I've ever seen any bladers doing it.
hell ya im going to hit it. theres at least one other blader comming along and he's as nuts as me so he's going to be hitting that piep as well. i fell a contest between him and me on who can get the highest in that pipe

that would be sick if some one went all the way around it
would be sick but if you dont have the speed to get all the way around you have a 26 FOOT FALL TO CONCREATE TO WORRY ABOUT!!!!!

no all you do is get a lot of pads for the bottom like they did in Jackass.

that 24' pipe is just plain insane. i've seen people take some pretty high falls from that thing. its crazy.

once i get the balls to drop in i could care less about an extesion. cause the extension here is only 1 or 2' higher. and if i drop in, my adrenaline will be going and i'll forget where i am in the ramp, and just hit the extension on accident.
i can drop in a 12-ft half pipe forward and backwards. i've found that if you drop in and keep your knees bent, you air a little bit higher on the other side, than if you just bent for the drop, then straightened out.
if you really want to get the dung scared out of you, try dropping in fakie.
if you cant drop in fakie, good luck airing, especially when you come back down fakie.
dropping in fakie isnt that hard, you just have to keep your knees really bent, and 'let go'. instead of lean forward, lean backwards, and just let yourself 'fall' into the ramp.
on the plus side, flat bottoming when dropping in fakie doesnt hurt nearly as much if you fell face forward.

dropping in fakie sounds crazy on a half pipe... i barely even do it in a mini...i can frontside to fakie...but just the thought of standing on the coping backwards, with a blind drop just scares me.
but looks like i'm gonna have to get over my fears this weekend cause i should get those bolts in sometime this week and i'm going to the skatepark saturday or sunday. so i guess i'll just have to go for it and see what happens. anymore tips?
wear all your pads, elbow, knee, wristguards, helmet, crash pads. You may get made fun of but it will save you big time. I wont touch a vert ramp unless i've got my helmet and knee pads, i wear elbow pads as well for right now untill my elbows heal, damn fractured elbows.

yea, whenever i skate park i wear helmet, knee pads, and crash pants. but i think i need to start wearing wrist gaurds more often cause i'm always bruising my palms.
I wore wrist guard till i tried doing an invert and the plastic part of the guard hit the coping and i smashed my hip on the coping and flip out into the ramp, after that i never wore wrist guard in vert again.
otherwise i normally dont wear pads unless im at an indoor park that requires it or doing a big trick, then i put my helmet on.

i havn't ever had that problem...my plastic pieces usually just pop out.

finally some nice wheather.......i've been trying to go to the skatepark every weekend now to practice on vert......i'm getting closer to pumping to the coping.....now i just have to make it to the top....cause i know if i can make it to the top to do a backside stall then droping in will be no problem.......so i'm getting there....slowly but surely......

I've been doing inverts w/wristgaurds for a really long time, never had one make me slide out. And if you want something scary drop in with your eyes closed and see how far you can get.

time for another good idea bad idea.
good idea wear a costume on halloween and go out trick or treating.
bad idea wear a white robe and a pointed hood and walk around town in black nighborhoods and wait to doge bullets.
now who ever is stupid to do that is gonna get shot.
just a while ago i bought this dvd that has reality tv shows that didnt make it on television.
one was called the amazing racist what and idiot he put on a white robe and a pointed hood and walked around town it was so funny he got his ass kicked like 15 - 16 times. he was even in his car and a homeless man came up to his car and started to beat the crap out of him in his car. i swear i have never laughed so hard in my life. IM not racist but dam i laugh at stupidity.
dropping in fakie...almost like bungie jumping...except you dont fall straight backwards. that's suicide. you just casually lean back while bending knees. Fun times.
